In many countries the pre-grad school students are required to sit an exam after their last year at school. In Bulgaria, these exams took place a few weeks ago. Now, some of the young people are having a rest on the sunny beaches and others have to study a bit more. Still, for a first year, the future students are allowed to check their results with greater ease through the use of SMS. Infosystems.bg made this possible through the use of Fortumo’s services. The students only have to send TXT ID and their personal ID* to a specified short code, in order to check what they have achieved. Where did the idea of using SMS-services come from?The idea came into being while we were developing the page that was to be used for display of the exam-results. In some of our projects we have integrated services for SMS notification and we decided to offer such option for the school-leaving examinations. We were aiming at a working and trustworthy system, that can handle thousands of simultaneous requests without blocking and we are glad that we achieved this.
We chose SMS services due to the fact that they are easy to use and convenient for the people. At the same time, we were looking for safety and secure system, as there is high traffic expected, with the start of the service.
In Fortumo’s services we saw the desired functionality with affordable price and that’s why we presented it to the Bulgarian Ministry of Education (MON). They approved the service fast, as it gives a modern and contemporary way for every student to receive his results through SMS. At a special press-conference with journalists, the minister announced the official start of the service, together with the site for checking the results, itself.
Through the integration of the SMS service we revealed a lot of ideas and opportunities, that we hope to become fact in our future projects. For example, similar to the school-leaving examination results service, we can use SMS services when the exam results of the 7th graders are announced (in Bulgaria, there are important exams after 7th grade in school), as well as with the university exams in the TOP universities.
